Goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a 12 month period of time.
TODAY- LISTENED TO 5 DIFFERENT ALBUMS. TOTAL FOR 47 DAYS 290 DIFFERENT ALBUMS- ON PACE FOR 2252.
- VAN MORRISON: TOO LONG IN EXILE: 1991: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Van sounds relaxed and happy on this one.
- JOE WALSH: BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS: 1977: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. It is a 4 star even if “Life’s Been Good” was the only song on the album. Very solid album, good tunes from Richy Starkey’s brother- in-law. Why did Joe ever get involved with The Eagles?
- THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN: DARKLANDS: 1987. 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. The Reid brothers’ debut “Psychocandy” received much more critical acclaim but I’ve always preferred “Darklands” their second but maybe that indicates something about my tastes. Psychocandy” was more pop-noise whereas “Darklands” more melodic. Favorite songs ” Happy When It Rains” and “April Skies.” The Jesus and Mary Chain released their first album since 1998- a couple months ago.
- ELVIS COSTELLO: MIGHTY LIKE A ROSE: 1991: 3 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. This EC album never made heavy rotation. Seems to me like a collection of good but not great songs.
- BRIAN WILSON: BRIAN WILSON: 1988: 3 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Much hyped about when it was released since Wilson hadn’t done anything in years. “Love And Mercy” the most known song. Album has its moments.
Totally agree with your Joe Walsh comment, his solo stuff was always good. Theirs a really cool instrumental on that record (can’t remember its name) and the opener is damn good too “Over And Over”.
Yes “Theme From Boat Weirdos”- is the instrumental.
That’s the one, highly original.
