Goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a 12 month period.
TODAY- LISTENED TO 3 DIFFERENT ALBUMS. 42 DAY TOTAL- 265 DIFFERENT ALBUMS. ON PACE FOR 2303.
- STEVE EARLE: WASHINGTON SQUARE SERENADE 2007: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Steve’s best album since “Transcendental Blues”- He had recently moved to New York City and these are songs that were inspired by his move.
- THE ROLLING STONES: STICKY FINGERS: 1971: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. In the middle of their greatest period. “Brown Sugar”, “Wild Horses” and one of my favorite Stones songs ever “Dead Flowers.” among the great tunes here.
- RY COODER: CHAVEZ RAVINE: 2005: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Cooder’s concept album about Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles- the Mexican-American area that was demolished -and the area eventually was used to build Dodger Stadium. A diverse album- which won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 2006.
It comes a time when the zipper of the Sticky-Finger-cover jams!
forgot to mention the Andy Warhol album cover..
It doesn’t matter. From the middle of the eighties was the zipper only printed.
For all its macho pomp, “Sticky Fingers” is still a great album IMO
In my march through the Stones catalog- I have my favorite next- “Exile On Main Street.”
