Goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a 12 month period of time.
TODAY-LISTENED TO 4 DIFFERENT ALBUMS- TOTAL 24 DAYS 145 DIFFERENT ALBUMS, ON PACE FOR 2205 DIFFERENT ALBUMS.
- FRANK SINATRA: SINGS FOR ONLY THE LONELY: 1958: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Frank is back with Nelson Riddle as his arranger after a two album absence. Both called this their finest album they did together.
- THE BEATLES: LET IT BE: 1970: 4 OUT OF 5 STARS. The last Beatles album released. I still maintain it was a good idea they called it a day- at the right moment.
- VAN MORRISON: INTO THE MUSIC: 1979: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. One of the best albums of 1979. Bob Dylan’s “Slow Train Coming” came out in the same time period and got all the attention but Van’s album I believe is better- a lot less preachy.
- ELLA FITZGERALD: KEN BURNS JAZZ: 2000. 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Ella born 100 year ago today- 4.25.
Having just got back from England (and Liverpool), it was a joy to go to The Beatles museum, on the Magical Mystery Tour bus, and stay at the Hard Days Night Hotel. Being soaked in Beatles memorabilia for a couple of weeks washed all the stresses away. “Let It Be” for me is a mixture of some wonderful tunes and a certain amount of filler.
We’ve already had this discussion this week, but I really love Into The Music.
It has been an album I’ve listened to a lot lately.
