Goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a period of 12 months.

Today listened to-5 different albums today. Have listened to 107 different albums in 18 days. On pace for 2169 different albums.

  • THE DOORS: THE DOORS: 1967. 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. I think The Doors are the most overrated group in rock history- or at least on the Mount Rushmore of Overrated Bands, and Jim Morrison overrated too but there isn’t anything at all wrong with their first album. Excellent, and their final album “LA Woman” was excellent- all the in between- a mixed bag.
  • FRANK SINATRA: CLOSE TO YOU: 1957. 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Another Sinatra classic arranged by Nelson Riddle.
  • ELVIS COSTELLO: ALMOST BLUE. 1981.  3 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. This seemed very odd when it was released- Elvis Costello going to Nashville and recording an album of country classics? What? This album has strangely grown on me over the years.
  • CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL: 1968. 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. The debut album- showed their great potential but they weren’t quite there yet. On their next album “Bayou Country’ they arrived and began their brief run of world domination.
  • DAVID BYRNE AND BRIAN ENO: EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS WILL HAPPEN TODAY: 2008. 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. The first Byrne-Eno album since 1981. They described this as ‘electronic gospel” and i can see that. A very enjoyable album. Wish they’d do another one.

One response to “PROJECT 150 DIFFERENT ALBUMS- DAY 18- 4.18.17

  1. The rocktheatre started with the first Doors-LP… “Almost Blue” is an pretty alternate mood from Elvis… the second CCR-album belongs to the best. With “Proud Mary” and “On The Bayou” there are rockevergreens, but the other songs are also good… still remember “My Life in The Bush Ghosts”. Eno and Byrne are here more passive “curators” of the musical reality from others. KEEP ON LISTENING!
