What was the first song you remember really loving? I was four or five years old and it was the Buck Owens hit “I’ve Got A Tiger By The Tail.” My father was into country music and luckily for me it was good country music- Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, classic stuff. I see that “I’ve Got A Tiger By The Tail” came out in late 1964. So I must have been four or five when I first heard it. It was on the radio a lot and my father had an album with it that I played over and over again. I thought the song was about a tiger, that and the fact that It was a great song is why I liked it. I still think it was the best song of Buck’s career.  A few years later Buck and his Buckaroos came to a nearby city and of course when I heard about the concert I wanted to go, so my grandparents and parents took me to see Buck. The first three concerts I ever saw were Buck Owens and his Buckaroos. I like all kinds of music now but I’d still put Buck near the top of my list when it comes to country artists- along with Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Waylon and Willie.
