Former Vice President of the United States- and Spelling Champion- Dan Quayle turns 70 today. There was a Dan Quayle sighting a couple weeks ago at the Inaugural of President Trump but for the most part Quayle has kept a low national profile since his unsuccessful run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2000. Quayle was the VP for George H.R. Bush from 1989-93. He was in his early 40’s when he served as Vice President of the U.S. Other than the unsuccessful run in 2000 he hasn’t sought public office. The first impression can be hard to overcome and Quayle’s first impression when announced as Bush’s running mate was not a good one and he was viewed as a light weight by many ever since. His son served a term in the U.S. House in the early part of this decade.
