The Beatles Song Of The Day “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”

The Beatles Song Of The Day is “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” from The Beatles double-album “The Beatles.” “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” was written by George Harrison. It would rank among my 3 favourite George Harrison Beatles songs along with “Here Comes The Sun’ and “Something.” This is the first truly great song that George wrote. George would say about the song, ” I worked on that song with John,Paul and Ringo one day, and they were not interested at all. And I knew inside of me that it was a nice song. The next day I was with Eric Clapton and I was going into the session, and I said ” We’re going to do this song. Come on and play on it. He said “Oh, no. I can’t do that. Nobody ever plays on the Beatles records. I said “Look, it’s my song, and I want you to play on it.” So Eric came in, and the other guys were as good as gold because he was there.” George said he got the idea for the song while he was visiting his parents home. He decided to pick up a book and write a song based on the first thing he saw. He picked up a book, opened it and saw “gently weeps.” John Lennon: lead guitar/ Paul McCartney: backing vocal, piano, organ and bass guitar/ George Harrison: double-tracked vocal, backing vocal, acoustic guitar and Hammond organ/ Ringo Starr: drums and tambourine/ Eric Clapton: lead guitar. The song was recorded on July 25th, August 16 and September 3rd, 5th and 6th, 1968 at Abbey Road. Producer: George Martin.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps {Harrison}

I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don’t know why nobody told you
How to unfold your love
I don’t know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you
I look at the world and I notice it’s turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
Well…
I don’t know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don’t know how you were inverted
No one alerted you
I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all
Still my guitar gently weeps
Oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh, ooh
