Cincinnati Reds Joe Nuxhall Becomes Youngest Player In Major League History

On this day in 1944, 15 year old Joe Nuxhall of the Cincinnati Reds became the youngest player to ever play in a major league baseball game. Its a good bet that he will keep this record. This record was set under special circumstances, World War II was on and many major league baseball players were serving in the military. Nuxhall would go on to have a pretty good playing career, he won 135 games and lost 117 during a career that ended in 1966. “The old lefthander would then go on to a 40 year career doing Cincinnati Reds games until his passing in 2007.
