It is believed that Eppy Guerrero signed more major league baseball players than anyone else. Eppy Guerrero died yesterday at the age of 71. Over the years he was a scout for the Astros, Yankees, Blue Jays and Brewers. He gained his most fame as a scout with the Blue Jays-where he signed Tony Fernandez and Carlos Delgado and he urged the Blue Jays to draft George Bell from the Phillies. The first outstanding talent he signed was Cesar Cedeno with the Astros. I think it is about time that they recognize scouts in Cooperstown. Eppy Guerrero would be one who should be honored.
