Yogi Berra- Hall of Fame New York Yankee Catcher-88 Today

Yogi Berra turns 88 today. Yogi Berra is the greatest catcher in Major League Baseball history. The greatest catcher in history was Josh Gibson but he was never given the chance to play in the major leagues due to baseball’s color line. It is a shame that Yogi Berra is thought of first as the guy who said all those crazy things because he was a great ballplayer. I would also like to add that I do not think he said most of those things. His friend Joe Garagiola made a living out of telling the “Yogisms” my thinking has always been that Joe came up with most of those. Yogi was a great ballplayer but in all the years of seeing him interviewed as a coach and manager and former great Yankee I never in any interviews heard him say anything like that and I never thought of him as being ‘funny.” Yogi played his entire 19 year career with the Yankees and was AL MVP 3 times. Yogi was an 18 time All-Star and played on 13 Yankee World Series Champions.
