On this day in 1939 John Steinbeck’s novel “The Grapes Of Wrath” was first published by the Viking Press. “The Grapes Of Wrath” won the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. The book was set in the Great Depression focuses on the Joad family from Oklahoma who set out for California due to the Dust Bowl. Great book and a great movie was made from the book starring Hank Fonda which came out in 1940.
