There are some teams that have a front office that trips all over themselves every season trying to prove how smart they are, and most of those teams will be in the same draft position, or worse next year. The Saints over the last few years have been one of the smarter teams, along with Baltimore, NY Giants, Pittsburgh and Seattle. Jarvis Jones and his spinal issue will be a solid test case this season.

The Saints were in a strange position last season as Roger Goodell handed out suspensions to the Saints like the cool parents hand out candy on Halloween. I do not know how much better the Saints would have been with Payton on the sidelines last year, but it had to have been better than it actually was. The Saints have completely scrapped the defense and moved to a 3-4. The will be able to fill in with some current roster players, but they will need help. Are we sensing a theme with this years draft yet?

If Mingo is available, or Lotulelei or Richardson (i need to just make this autotext) they are probably taken here. Now back to Jarvis Jones since the other players mentioned are already off the board. Jones is a force. Many teams will walk away from him due to the spinal issue. He had a neck injury and was advised to quit football, after a second opinion he transferred to Georgia and was a top SEC player. Frankly I will be surprised if he is here on draft day. Jones needs the right environment to fully reach his potential.

If he is not taken by this point I will almost bet the mortgage that he does not get past the Steelers at pick 17.

With the 15th pick, the New Orleans Saints select Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia.
