2013 NFL Mock Draft By SLICETHELIFE- First Round Pick Six- Cleveland Browns

Being a Steeler fan I love beating up on the Cleveland Browns [not as much as I like beating up on Jimmy Carter but that’s another story.} The Browns since they have returned to the league as an expansion team in 1999 have been a joke and that is being kind. They always seem to have a new coach and a new quarterback. Their upper management also seems to be in a constant turnover. Now they have a new owner and new management and a new head coach. According to all reports they are not happy with Brandon Weeden as their quarterback. They recently added Jason Campbell but he’s not the answer either. The problem is this years quarterback group does not have a franchise quarterback in it that I can see. The Browns with the sixth overall pick could go out and take Geno Smith from West Virginia but I am going to give the new management the benefit of the doubt and say they are too smart for that. They will wait another year and see what comes out next season to address their quarterback needs. They should give Weeden another chance anyway. I have to say the drafting of Weeden last year in the first round provided comic relief.  The Browns have many needs outside of quarterback. They could use help at linebacker and a cornerback. If Dee Milliner is available they will grab him but I have him going to Jacksonville with the #2 overall pick. So I have the them picking–

Cleveland Browns select with the 6th overall pick- CB Xavier Rhodes Florida State 6-1 1/2 210 4.43 40. A big corner who is physical and has good ball reactions. This would give the Browns two fine cornerbacks-Rhodes teamming up with Joe Haden.

The new Clowns owner is Jimmy Haslam who made his money running truck stops. He was a part-owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers before the Browns became available. You would think that he would have learned from the Rooney family. Hire football people to run the team and stay out of the way. I have a feeling though that Haslam is going to be more of a Jerry Jones type owner. I don’t think he payed a billion dollars to buy this team to sit back and watch quietly. At least I am hoping he is of the Jerry Jones/ Dan Snyder school of owners.  The talk was when he bought that team, look for him to hire a big name coach, he’d open the checkbook and sign a Nick Saban or some other big name. He hired Rob Chudzinski. I may be wrong but I don’t think Haslam was looking for a big name. He was looking for a puppet. I will be fair Chudzinski deserves a chance. He will get a chance. In 2016 the Browns will be looking for another head coach.
