The Beatles Song Of The Day: “Yes It Is”

The Beatles Song Of The Day is “Yes It Is.” “Yes It Is” was the b-side of “Ticket To Ride.’ “Yes It Is” was written by John Lennon. He would later say it was a failed attempt to re-write “This Boy.” Paul would later say that he rather liked the song and while John was dismissive of the song I tend to agree with Paul on this one. This is one of John’s most romantic Beatles songs. I love John’s vocals on this song. John Lennon: double-tracked vocal and acoustic rhythm guitar/ Paul McCartney: harmony vocal and bass guitar/ George Harrison: harmony vocal and lead guitar/ Ringo Starr: drums and tambourine. The song was recorded on February 16th,1964 at Abbey Road. Producer: George Martin.

Yes It Is {Lennon-McCartney}

If you wear red tonight
Remember what I said tonight
For red is the color that my baby wore
And what is more, it’s true Yes it is
Scarlet were the clothes she wore
Everybody knows I’ve sure
I could remember all the things we planned
Understand, it’s true
Yes it is, it’s true Yes it is
I could be happy with you by my side
If I could forget her, but it’s my pride
Yes it is, yes it is Oh, yes it is, yeah
Please don’t wear red tonight
This is what I said tonight
For red is the color that will make me blue
In spite of you, it’s true
Yes it is, it’s true Yes it is
I could be happy with you by my side
If I could forget her, but it’s my pride
Yes it is, yes it is Oh, yes it is, yeah
Please don’t wear red tonight
This is what I said tonight
For red is the color that will make me blue
In spite of you, it’s true
Yes it is, it’s true Yes it is, it’s true
