American Legend Johnny Cash- Born This Day 81 Years Ago/ “I Walk The Line” {VIdeo-Song}

The Great Johnny Cash was born on this day 1932. He would have been 81 today. My first memories of music are listening to my father playing his Johnny Cash albums.  Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. Not a bad introduction to music. I remember being fascinated by the Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison album. I’d listen to it over and over.

My Mount Rushmore of Country Music Artists- of course Johnny Cash is on it, along with Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and Buck Owens. {My favourite country artist ever is Merle Haggard]

Johnny Cash had an interesting life and career. Many ups and downs. He was like all of us-full of contradictions. Johnny Cash did it all. The man is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Country Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. He was “The Man In Black” who opened all his concerts with “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash” Johnny Cash was bigger than the music, a larger than life figure. When he died at the age of 71 in 2003, I couldn’t believe it. The thought that Johnny Cash would someday die just hadn’t crossed my mind. He seemed bigger than life.

I think Johnny Cash’s greatest song was “I Walk The Line.” What a great sound those early records of his had. “I Walk The Line” isn’t only Johnny’s greatest song but one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
