The Greatest Athlete To Wear #75 is Mean Joe Greene- Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive tackle.
A close call because there are a few outstanding #75’s worthly of consideration. Vince Lombardi called offensive tackle Forrest Gregg the finest player he ever coached. Deacon Jones is in my opinion the greatest defensive end who ever played- he played mostly with the Rams in the 1960’s and was the leader of their Fearsome Foursome defensive line. Howie Long is also a Pro Football Hall of Famer having played his career with the Raiders. Jonathan Ogden of the Baltimore Ravens was just elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he was perhaps the finest offensive tackle of his day.
Joe Greene gets the nod as the greatest #75. Considered by many the greatest defensive tackle in pro football history, he led the great Steelers defense in the 1970’s. The Steelers won 4 Super Bowls in those years. Joe Greene is the greatest player to ever play for the Steelers. Greene was a 10 time Pro Bowler. He is ranked by the NFL Network as the 13th greatest player in NFL history. He also made one of the great televison commericials of all-time.
