Tennis legend John McEnroe turns 54 today. When you think of John McEnroe you think of that temper he had on the tennis court. He kept things interesting. You never knew when he was going to explode on a judge.  John McEnroe was also a great player for a period of time. He won 7 Grand Slam titles-winning Wimbledon 3 times and the US Open 4 times. He was also the #1 player in the world for a time in the early 1980’s. His last Grand Slam title came at the age of 25. He peaked early. I do not watch a whole lot of tennis. It is like golf with me, I will watch the Grand Slam final events. The greatest tennis match I’ve ever seen was the 1980- Borg vs McEnroe Wimbledon Final.

Funny when McEnroe was around people would complain about his bahavior. Now the players are boring and they long for the days of McEnroe. I always found McEnroe to be a likeable guy [unlike Jimmy Conner’s who comes across as an arrogant self-centered jerk} Always rooted for McEnroe, plus he is a lefty.
