Otis Blackwell- An Unsung Hero Of Rock And Roll- Born This Day 1931

Otis Blackwell, who is best known for his songwriting was born on this day 1931. He wrote some songs that became big hits for other artists in the 195o’s. Blackwell wrote “Fever”- Little Willie John, ” Great Balls of Fire”-Jerry Lee Lewis,  Elvis had big hits with Blackwell’s “Don’t Be Cruel”, “Return To Sender”, and “All Shook Up. He wrote “Handy Man” which would enjoy its greatest success with James Taylor in the 1970’s. Although Blackwell wrote those songs Elvis had big hits with he never met the Big E. Otis Blackwell died in 2002 at the age of 71.
