On this day in 1969 The Beatles gave their last public performance, an impromptu concert on the roof of Apple Records in London. The concert wa broken up by the police. It was a cold day with the wind blowing hard. The Beatles played for 42 minutes. The songs they played “Get Back”, “I Want You[She’s So Heavy},”Don’t Let Me Down”, “I’ve Got A Feeling”,”One After 909″, “Danny Boy”, “Dig A Pony”, “God Save The Queen”, and “A Pretty Girl Is Like A Melody.” {Full versions of Danny Boy/ God Save The Queen/ A Pretty Girl Is Like A Melody” were not attempted-it was just fooling around between takes} The Beatles started playing on the roof at midday. The crowds down below could not see them but they could hear them.The Beatles last actual concert was in San Francisco, California in August of 1966.
