Interesting article from Boston Herald columnist Gerry Callahan on the decline of the New England Patriots. I haven’t kept any records of this but I would be willing to bet that in the past ten years I’ve probably picked the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl…like ten times. They did win three of them but that is becoming a distant memory. Tom Brady and Coach Belichick are still there. They came very close twice to winning it all against the Giants. The window is starting to close. Brady is 35 now. He’s still playing at a high level but the clock is ticking..
Its funny how a couple plays change a legacy. If the Giants hadn’t pulled out those two miracle finishes and the Patriots had won those 2 recent Super Bowls- Brady/Belichick would have 5 Super Bowl titles and would be acclaimed the greatest quarterback and the greatest coach ever. But they didn’t win those two. I am for the first time starting to think they will not win another one. I figure they have 2 or 3 years to get it done.
