Singer Janis Joplin was born 70 years ago today. Her signature song was one that was released after her death. It went all the way to #1 on the charts “Me And Bobby McGee” The song was written by Kris Kristofferson. Roger Miller did the original version and the song has been done by a countless number of artists but Janis Joplin nailed it.

Janis Joplin was a member of ‘that stupid club” of rock stars who died at age 27 of a drug overdose, just 16 days after the death of Jimi Hendrix [also at age 27} I recognize Janis Joplin’s greatness but I have never been much of a fan. “Me And Bobby McGee” I do love though.
