On this day in 1912 New Mexico was admitted into the United States as the 47th state. New Mexico is the 5th largest state in area and the 36th most populated state. The capital city of New Mexico is Santa Fe. The state colours of New Mexico are red and gold. Albuquerque is by far that largest city in New Mexico with 552,000 people. A number of famous people have come from New Mexico but for some reason if I was asked “Name a famous person from New Mexico” the first ones I think of are the auto racing Unser’s- Al, Bobby and Al Jr.

My personal favourite memory of New Mexico is-when I was 12 years old my grandparents took me on a vacation out west. We stopped in Albuquerque and I ate Mexican food for the first time in my life. One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Also it was pretty neat to go to the Four Corners and stand where four states -New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah all meet.
