Kansas City Chief great and Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas was born on this day 1967. Derrick Thomas starred at Alabama before being drafted with the 4th pick in Round 1 of the 1989 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Derrick Thomas played his entire career with the Chiefs- in those 11 seasons he made the Pro Bowl 9 times. He had 126.5 sacks in his career and an incredible 7 sacks in one game back in 1990 which is a record.

Derrick Thomas died in February 200o at the age of 33 a couple weeks after being in a traffic accident where he was driving over 100 MPH during a snowstorm. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
