Dickey Betts turns 69 today. He is most famous for being a guitarist and songwriter for The Allman Brothers Band. Dickey Betts is ranked #61 on the recent Rolling Stone greatest guitarist list. My favourite song by The Allman Brothers is the instrumental “Jessica” which was written by Betts which was inspired by his daughter Jessica, back in the early 1970’s. Betts also wrote The Allman Brothers greatest hit “Ramblin’ Man”
“Blue Sky” was written by Dickey Betts and it was the first song that he sang lead on with The Allman Brothers.
