General Alexander Haig “I’m In Control Here In The White House

General and former Secretary of State Alexander Haig was born on this day in 1924. The one moment that he will be remembered the most for will probably be the comment he made after POTUS Ronaldus Magnus was shot in 1981 during a press conference where a clearly shaken Haig said “I’m in control here at the White House”

Haig was a 4 star general in the United States Army. He was the Chief of Staff for Dick Nixon during the end days of Nixon’s Presidency many say he was the president then since Nixon was incapacitated by Watergate. He would be Secretary of State for Ronaldus Magnus. He ran for the presidency in 1988 but didn’t get anywhere with that. I think any hopes he had for that went down the tubs the day POTUS Reagan was shot.

Al Haig died in 2010 at the age of 85.
