POTUS Lyndon Johnson Establishes Warren Commission To Investigate JFK Assassination This Day 1963

A week after the assassination of President John Kennedy in Dallas, the new President Lyndon Johnson established the Warren Commission to investigate the assassination. The commission would be named for Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren who was to be the Chairman of the Warren Commission. The Warren Commission would issue their report in September 1964 and conclude that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the assassination and that Jack Ruby had acted alone when he killed Oswald a couple days later.

Johnson wanted a quick investigation and he wanted the results that he got. The Warren Commission no doubt made some mistakes along the way but I think in the end they got their conclusion right.
