Author Robert Louis Stevenson was born on this day in 1850. Stevenson who was born in Scotland was the author of “Treasure Island” and “Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” The decision to become a writer alienated him from his parents for a number of years, they had expected him to get into the family business-lighthouse keeping. Stevenson died at the age of 44 probably of a cerebral hemorrhage.
