Folk Singer-Songwriter- John Prine 66 Today

Singer- songwriter John Prine turns 66 today. John Prine’s first album came out in 1971, the self-titled John Prine. It was  probably his best album but he’s had a number of great albums over the years. My favourite song of his comes from his first album “Paradise”  He is a great songwriter. I have seen him in concert a few times and have found the crowds he draws annoying. He writes some funny songs but the crowd acts like they are hearing them for the first time. Anyway.

John Prine was ‘discovered’ by Kris Kristopherson. Kris said that John wrote such great songs that “we’ll have to break his thumbs’

I first discovered John Prine in the late 1970’s with his “Bruised Orange” album, another favourite of mine. After hearing the first song on that album “Whistle and Fish” I was hooked. I went out and got his back catalog. I’ve been a fan since. In recent years he has slowed down a bit in production.
