On this day in 1941 “The Maltese Falcon” starring the great Humphrey Bogart as detective Sam Spade. It was the first time an American actor’s name appeared above the title of a movie on a film credit. The film would be nominated for three Academy Awards. The film is considered one of the greatest movies of all time.
