Soviet Offensive Moscow December 1941.jpg

On this day in 1941 with the Russian winter on the way, Nazi Germany launched an intense attack on the Soviet Union. It was called “Operation Typhoon” with Moscow as its goal. The German armies advanced quickly over a broad front but the Russians employed their scorched-earth policy destroying anything of value and leaving nothing of value behind to support Adolf Hitler’s troops. The offensive took place between October of 1941 and January of 1942. The overall result was a decisive victory for the Soviet Union.
