George Lazenby- The Forgotten James Bond-73 Today

Australian actor George Lazenby, who played James Bond in only one film before quitting turns 73 today. The film in which Lazenby played Bond was the 1969 movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” He quit because he didn’t like how he was treated on the set. This would be one of the worst career choices ever. He would fade into obscurity. He was married for a while to tennis star Pam Shriver.

George Lazenby’s performance in his Bond movie received mixed reviews. “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” is probably the least regarded Bond film in the entire series. He was no Sean Connery.

  1. He Actually Wasn’t Bad As Bond.
    I Can EASILY Say This…
…Had Sean Connery Stayed On To Do “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” We’d Never Hear Anyone Saying “Goldfinger” Is The Best Bond Flick… They’d Be Saying… “OHMSS Is BY FAR The BEST Bond Film. Period.” The Film Itself Is AMAZING. Peter Hunt (the director) Rocked! I Liked George, But As You Say, “He Was No Sean Connery.” 🙂

  2. i agree – this film was awesome. plus diana rigg was outstanding in this film. at the risk of being stoned in the streets, i think the actors in the bond franchise rank this way.
daniel craig – yes there i said it, he is better than connery
sean connery – when i think of bond i used to think connery.
timothy dalton – had the worst plots and scripts to deal with
george lazenby – would have been better if he had made more films
pierce brosnan – i wonder if he had been bond earlier if he would have been better
roger moore – the films became campy and the slide whistle boat jump forever ruined the moore films.
