Pittsburgh Pirates Make History This Day 1971- First All-Black Line-Up Ever

 

 

Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in 1947 but it wasn’t until September 1st, 1971 that a team fielded an all-black line-up. The Pirates under manager Danny Murtaugh did just that against the Phillies on that date. The Pirates would win the World Series in 1971.
