U2 guitarist David Evans aka The Edge turns 51 today. I love U2. They are one of the few groups that have remained relevant over a long period of time. In fact they have been out there for over 30 years and when they put out an album it still matters. I can’t think of any rock group ever who has had that much staying power. Sure The Rolling Stone have been around 50 years but why? They should have called it quits at 25 years. U2 still matters.
“The Joshua Tree” has to be in my all time Top 15 albums. I saw them again last summer in Pittsburgh at the end of their tour[ 3rd time I’ve seen them} I remember reading 18 months ago that they had 3 albums worth of material in the can and a lot of stuff would be coming out in 2011. Well it is 8 months into the 2012 and I am still waiting for a new U2 album. Maybe Bono is too busy saving the world.
Below a pictures of the boys before The Edge lost his hair and started wearing that silly beanie.
