John A. Roebling Bridge -Cincinnati, Ohio

The John A. Roebling Bridge which spans the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Ohio to Covington, Kentucky was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1057 feet when it opened in 1866.

John Roebling was the architect of the bridge, he would go on to design one of the most famous bridges in the world-the Brooklyn Bridge. He would die in 1869 and his son Washington Roebling would finish the job on the Brooklyn Bridge.
