Great Western Vacation-Day 13-Sixth Floor Museum At Dealey Plaza

We arrived at Dealey Plaza right before they opened at the Sixth Floor Museum at 10am. There was a long line waiting to get in. This shocked me because the last time I was there 20 years ago there were only a few people there. It took 2 hours to go through the museum on the 6th floor where Lee Oswald shot from. The exhibits covered the who story from Kennedy’s life to the assassination and its aftermath. The museum goes with the Warren Commission Report- that Lee Oswald acted alone and there was no conspiracy but they do give their due to the conspiracy theories too.

They had Oswald’s corner glassed off, you can see how Oswald had the boxes set up near the window. You can’t get in there you can’t get the exact view Lee Oswald had when he shot but you can stand at the next window and look out onto Dealey Plaza. No photographs were allowed on the sixth floor but you could go up on the 7th floor and take photographs from the window onto Dealey Plaza.

The museum was worth seeing. They had a number of short films to watch as you go along in the museum. The Zapruder film is shown but they do not show the fatal head shot.  We went up to the 7th floor after doing the museum and took some pictures. Then we went outside and explored Dealey Plaza. More on that in a later posts. Below is a picture taken from the 7th floor-directly above where Lee Oswald shot from.
