Yet another #1 hit from a movie soundtrack. The song is much better than the movie- the work of Brat Packers- total garbage was the movie. John Parr- a British singer- had 5 Billboard Hot 100 singles in the US- with 2 making the Top 40- previous to this was 1984’s ‘Naughty Naughty’ #23.
Eno’s song on the same name is better.
I loved the movie at the time, and I liked the song a lot, as it reminded me of the movie. The movie hasn’t held up well; no desire to watch it now, but I still like the song.
It’s a decent anthemic song of a style that was immensely popular in the mid 80s, but unfortunately they got to be overdone.
