Under The Covers: Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs: ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’- Elton John. The John Lennon classic from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band- which was controversial in some circles who took the Lucy- Sky -Diamonds to be L.S.D.- The famous cover by Elton John went to #1 in 1975- the only other Beatles cover that went to #1- [some trivia to tell your friends] the Stars On 45 medley which included eight Beatles songs- if that counts. Also there was a Paul McCartney written tune which went to #1 that The Beatles never recorded- Peter And Gordon’s ‘ A World Without Love’ in 1964.

One of a number of Beatles covers I’m sure I could count on the fingers of one hand that I think are at least as good, possibly better, than the original.
Loved this song so much when it came out, and couldn’t get enough of it. This is probably my favorite cover of any Beatles song.
