Deep Tracks From 1971: ‘Chain Letter’- Todd Rundgren. Not that I keep up with it because it has become such a joke- but the other day the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame announced their new inductees and they got one right- by electing Todd Rundgren after all these years. In 1971 Todd released an album called Runt: The Ballad Of Todd Rundgren- which Rolling Stones called the ‘best album Paul McCartney never made.’ Here is one of the songs from that album- “Chain Letter.”

It’s about time he was nominated! I can definitely hear a Beatles influence here.
Not that it matters but yea it should have happened years ago. If not him as a performer…him as a producer would have been enough also.
Nice power pop tune. I’m glad he was finally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. As flawed as it may me, Rundgren got some great company there!
Oh My God, what a song. Terrific selection. Can’t go wrong with the Ballad album. Once of the best ever.
