Prince’s 2nd #1 single of the year off of his greatest album Purple Rain. This was one of those single releases I went out to buy- I had the album but I bought it for the b-side “Erotic City.’ 1984 was a great year for music- and Prince was a big reason for that.
When it comes Prince, I’ve oftentimes had mixed feelings. I can’t really say there are many Prince tunes I truly dig. On the other hand, he was just an incredible artist. So versatile. And a hell of a guitarist!
I liked his 80’s output- then he lost me…
Such a brilliant song. I also remember “Erotic City” getting a lot of radio airplay despite being the b-side.
One of my favorite Prince songs – amazing song off amazing album.
Great song. Great album.
