Under The Covers- Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs: ‘Norwegian Wood [This Bird Has Flown]- Waylon Jennings. Here is a different take on John Lennon’s classic “Norwegian Wood’- from Rubber Soul. In 1966 Waylon covered the song on his Nashville Rebel album. He had yet to go ‘outlaw’ but he was already making record executives in Nashville a little uneasy.
Waylon Jennings has a voice that can sing anything. I like the way he does this.
If you think about it, it’s just mind-boggling how many artists have covered Beatles tunes. Your series nicely illustrates that.
So far every song of theirs has been covered- some more than others but I am sure there is no other rock group or artist who can say that…
Once again, this goes to show the incredible influence The Beatles have had. It had not occurred to me how covers are a great way to illustrate this fact. While I don’t have the stats to prove it, I bet The Rolling Stones have been covered far less, even though they’s been around for close to 60 years, more than six times as long as The Beatles.
Waylon went all Gordon Lightfoot on this.
