There was a backlash in the 80’s against the Bee Gees but that didn’t mean they went into hiding- they kept writing hit songs but for other artists. They wrote this one for Marvin Gaye originally in an R&B style but was changed for a Kenny Rogers album. This was the second #1 for both Rogers and Parton. Duets were popular in this era- there would be 3 #1 hits that were duets in 1983.
