Irene Cara came on the pop scene with ‘Fame’ #4 in 1980- she had 6 Top 40 hits from 1980-84 with the theme from Flashdance being her biggest hit. She worked with producer Giorgio Morodor on Flashdance- she was at first reluctant to work with Morodor because she was afraid it would draw comparisons to another Morodor artist- Donna Summer. I don’t know the last time I heard the name Irene Cara or the star of the movie- which I found kind of dreadful- Jennifer Beals. Anyway this song isn’t bad. Not a fan of the other hit from the movie- ‘Maniac’ by Michael Sembello.
Never saw the film, but love the song.
I don’t think you missed much as far as the film goes- I only saw it because the girlfriend I had at the time just had to see it…. but of course you were a dancin’ fool’ back in those days you may like the movie..
Great movie!
