Under The Covers: Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs: ‘I’m A Loser’- Eels. One of my favorite songs on Beatles For Sale- a John Lennon song. When I hear this song I often think back to the mid-80’s the first year I was teaching. At the end of the year the high school had a talent show and one of the students -at least to me stole the show with a cover of “I’m A Loser’- since I don’t have his version to play- here is the 2005 cover by Eels from the Sixteen Tons album. Eels is actually singer-songwriter Mark Everett.
Pretty good. I don’t like that slight chord change he does in the chorus.
Not bad musically, but I feel the singing could need a bit more pep. So I’m afraid in comparison to John Lennon, I declare Eels the loser! 🙂 But, hey, at least you came in second to one of the greatest pop and rock artists of all time!
I love this song- and I agree with you… no way to top John on this one.
Excellent choice, a refreshing take.
