Richie Havens a folk-singer- guitarist was born in 1941 in Brooklyn, New York- will always be remembered most for his opening performance at Woodstock in1969. On the Billboard Pop Hot 100 singles chart- his excellent remake of George Harrison’s Beatles classic- “Here Comes The Sun’ was his only entry into the Hot 100. A friend of mine who has promoted many concerts over the years – once had Richie Havens play at his venue. We were talking on day and I asked him- who was the nicest performer you ever dealt with- his answer came quickly- Richie Havens. Richie Havens died of a heart attack at the age of 72 in 2013.
One of my favorite Beatle covers!
I am with you on that!
Great version!
Always liked this Hans. A lot.
