#1 hit- #500- I don’t think I have missed a day of posting the one a day #1- since I began the feature nearly a year and a half ago. I looked -nearing the halfway point- right now the up to date total is 1116 #1 hits. I can’t say that I am looking forward to the #1 hits say past 1995.
REO Tricycle -throughout the 1970’s were a journeymen group- they put some songs into the Hot 100 but none which made the Top 40- but all their hard work finally paid off in the early 80’s with their 9th album- Hi Infidelity album which yielded four hit singles including their first hit “Keep On Loving You’ which went to #1 [the other hits on the album were ‘Take It On The Run’ #5, “Don’t Let Him Go’ #24 and “in Your Letter’ #20. They would have one more #1 in their career ” Can’t Fight This Feeling” 1985. The Hi Fidelity album was the best selling rock album of 1981 going 10 X platinum. I still don’t get the attraction. Not a fan. They are still around touring- at least back when there were tours usually teaming up with other bands from the era- like in 2018 – Chicago.
I was never a big fan of their music either, though I did like “Can’t Fight This Feeling”.
I do give it to them- they hung in there forever- I can’t think of any artists who didn’t hit it BIG until their 9th album and then did!
They were cool when I was in high school. I like this song. I won a pair of tickets to see them from a local radio station in 1989 (IIRC). They put on a really good show. They had a big production for Ridin’ The Storm Out.
