- LEONARD COHEN: THE FUTURE: 1992: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: IPOD: FOLK ROCK: One thing you don’t get with Leonard Cohen is a bunch of silly love songs. This was his 9th studio album- he was a poet before he got into music-and has to rank up in the highest echelon of songwriters. This album seems like music for the apocalypse. While Cohen was writing this album both the fall of the Berlin Wall and the 1992 LA riots took place and those events had an influence on his writing. Mount Rushmore: ‘The Future’, ‘Democracy’, ‘Anthem’ and ‘Waiting For The Miracle.’ The album clocks in at a few seconds under and hour.
“Democracy”‘s a pretty cool song…not sure if I know more from it than that one.
check out the song ‘the future’- one of his best.
LEONARD!!! This album is one of my all-time faves.
