The Bee Gees may not have realized it in 1980 but their run on the charts was over as The Bee Gees. But songs they wrote for other artists would continue to chart -and ‘Woman In Love’ by Babs Streisand is a great example- I am shocked to see the number of countries all over the world where it went to #1 on the charts. Barry Gibb had written the song with Streisand in mind. It would become her 5th #1 hit- and to date her final #1.
I bought this 45 and I still have it. It’s a good song. Have you heard Liz McClarnon’s version? She reminds me of what Olivia would do with this song.
Never heard of Liz?
I hadn’t either until I saw the “cover” listed on Wikipedia.
I bought the entire album.
Why are you shocked? It’s a good song and Babs was at the height of her career.
I’m with him. The charts showing #1 all over the planet? Yeah. It’s Streisand but, really? And, 1980 was hardly the height of her career. She peaked in the 70s (musically & as an actress):

Barry Gibb wrote that album for her. It wasn’t just her in the spotlight for all that. She is a voice but, she’s no songwriter.
I kind of thought at this point she had been riding on others coat tails- her old high school friend Neil and then Donna Summer- and here the most successful songwriter of that era- Barry Gibb.
I agree…riding a short wave created by others. I call that leeching.
I would never discount her voice. She is a great singer but, her acting was questionable. She got by on name recognition not acting range talent. She’s not very “deep.”
and reportedly not a very nice person…and that is being kind.
Heh. Straight up beotch…
I have the album also- got about 20 different Babs albums for $1 a piece. All in excellent condition.
