The Beatles Top 60 Solo Songs: #4- “Watching The Wheels” -John Lennon. Down to the Final 4- The Mount Rushmore of Beatles Solo Songs! “Watching The Wheels” the single from John and Yoko’s Double Fantasy album it reached #10 in the Billboard Hot 100. The song deals with Lennon’s ‘missing years’ from the music industry- 1975- to 1980 when he didn’t release any music, stayed out of the limelight and described himself as being a ‘house husband raising his son Sean. This song which featured a hammered dulcimer was a favorite of mine since the first time I heard it. At different times in my life I have had the same feelings that Lennon expressed in his song. My favorite John Lennon solo single.
Great choice! This may actually be my favorite from “Double Fantasy.”
Thank you!
I’m not a big Lennon fan (except his work with the Beatles early years) but, I like this one.
A very intimate song. Good choice for your just about to Mount Rushmore.
thank you!
Definitely a good one…not my favorite of his, but a very good one which like you say might be the best on ‘Double Fantasy’.
