- In Lebanon the government of Prime Minister Rashid Karami resigned following the August 17th election of Suleiman Franjieh as the nations new president.
Off topic Hans but you posted it yesterday….did you ever go to Shibe Park? You would have been a youngster if you went… since it closed in 1970.
No never made it there. As a youth just Forbes Field and Three Rivers…then Cleveland’s ballpark which was nothing special.. in my early 30’s in the early 90’s I made my cross country trips and hit a bunch. Would have loved to have seen a game at some of those old ballparks which closed around 1970.
Yea you and me both. They seemed to have a charm about them.
I just missed old Cominsky- i started my traveling the year after they shut it down.
That one I would have liked to see. The new one just looks…plain and boring. That is unfair of me to say because maybe in person it’s different.
Also I would have loved to have seen Tiger Stadium.
Went to the new one in its first season- they just missed out on the classic ballpark look of Camden Yards etc. I remember less than a decade in they were hinting around they’d like a new ballpark- but that wasn’t happening.
I can see why they were. I bet in the next 20 years they might get another one.
Yes its hard to believe but that ‘new’ ballpark is nearly 30 years old. Wrigley Field will probably outlive the new Comiskey
