Yesterday I wrote about the trip I took down south with my grandfather and cousins in the spring of 1974- and the pain I endured on hearing “The Streak” every hour on the hour while traveling. There was a plus though-the other song that was being played constantly was “Band On The Run.” For a few days I thought it odd- I thought “Band On The Run” was two songs- and thought it strange that no matter what radio station was playing it-these two songs were played back to back. Of course it is only one song. 46 years later I am still not tired of hearing this song. It would get my vote as the best post- Beatles Paul McCartney song. The album- Band On The Run also gets my vote as the best McCartney album.
I think I’m with you, Hans. “Band On the Run” probably is McCartney’s best solo/post-Beatles tune. I would also say the entire album is his best post-Beatles record.
I agree while I like Ram a lot- if push comes to shove- Band On The Run is his best album.
While most McCartney albums have at least 1 or 2 great songs, my close second album pick would be “Tug of War” from ’82.
I am a big fan of Tug Of War!
I like this song and this album.
